The Power of Dua: Strengthening Your Connection with Allah
Dua (supplication) is one of the most profound acts of worship in Islam. It is a direct line of communication between the servant and the Creator. Allah says in the Quran:
"And your Lord says, 'Call upon Me; I will respond to you.'" (Surah Ghafir, 40:60)
Whether you are in ease or difficulty, making dua nurtures the heart and builds a personal relationship with Allah. It reflects humility, trust, and hope in His mercy and wisdom.
When to Make Dua
- During the last third of the night
- Between the adhan and iqamah
- While fasting and before breaking the fast
- In sujood (prostration)
- On Fridays, especially during the last hour
Etiquettes of Making Dua
- Begin by praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
- Raise your hands in sincerity.
- Have full conviction that Allah will answer your dua.
- Avoid hastiness or despair if the response is delayed.
- Use the beautiful names of Allah (Asmaul Husna) relevant to your request.
Remember, no dua goes unheard. Even if it is not answered in the way we expect, it brings benefit in ways we may not yet understand. Keep calling upon Allah, for He is always near.
